The Devil’s Heir

The Devil’s Heir is a complete book jacket I designed for a dark fantasy romance fanfiction novel connected to TJ Klune’s The House in the Cerulean Sea. The project required designing a front cover, back cover, spine, and both flaps using a cohesive three-typeface system that would communicate genre and appeal to existing fans while attracting new romance readers.

I centered the design around deep charcoal and black with strategic red accents that create hierarchy and mood throughout every surface. The atmospheric silhouette suggests mystery without being too literal, and the typography balances dark fantasy drama with the warmth the romance genre demands. Every required element, from testimonials and author bio to barcode and publisher information, was integrated without sacrificing the overall aesthetic.
