Poppin’ Popcorn
Poppin’ Popcorn needed a brand new identity for their gourmet popcorn line that would physically jump off a retail shelf and make someone want to grab a bag. The target audience is snack lovers of all ages, particularly families looking for something fun, bold, and delicious in a crowded retail environment.
I built the concept around contrast and personality. A bold black base immediately sets the brand apart from the saturated snack aisle, while a chunky hand-drawn logotype and repeating popcorn cloud pattern bring the playful energy the brief called for. The result is a logo system that works just as hard as it looks good.
With the brand identity established, the packaging system needed to solve a real functional problem: keeping four distinct flavors feeling like one cohesive product family while making each one instantly identifiable on shelf.
I developed color-coded flavor panels in red for Bourbon Caramel, green for Spiced Apple, blue for Sea Salt, and purple for Cracked Pepper, differentiating each SKU at a glance while the consistent black base and cloud pattern keep the line unified. Clear visual hierarchy ensures the flavor name and logo read first, followed by the calorie badge, guiding the customer through exactly the right information in exactly the right order.
